Q4 — “Oil and Bibi” as the only motive
Sources: Thread comments (anonymized), spring 2026 — Israel-first and oil-profit framing.
The argument (mainstream / anti-Trump)
The war is for Israel and Bibi, not America. Oil companies and regime-change interests won. Trump serves donors / Netanyahu; Epic Fury is a wag-the-dog or election play. Rubio and Hegseth are cover for a neocon rerun.
What the frame leaves out
- 1953 Ajax and Shah-era nuclear groundwork — U.S./UK built the board before modern Likud headlines.
- Proxy casualties (U.S. troops via IRGC-backed networks) as Hegseth’s stated decades-long thread — not invented for 2026.
- Dual alliance pressure (Israel + Gulf) without collapsing into single-motive caricature — parent article compares Iraq/Libya (regime + resources) vs Iran 2026 (nukes-forward, narrower).
- Oil price spike hurts incumbents too — “war for cheap oil” is often too simple for Hormuz panic dynamics.
Response
Israel alignment is real — strikes were coordinated; Bibi cheered objectives. That does not exhaust causation.
Rubio frames American risk: conventional shield → untouchable nuclear program → “unacceptable.” Hegseth frames American dead via proxies and a nuclear race. Those are U.S. cabinet lines, not Knesset press releases.
Our thesis lane (see CIA §IV): the long lie is Anglo-American cultivation of Iranian nuclear latency across Shah and clerical phases — MI6/CIA archive, not “Bibi invented nukes in 2026.” Epic Fury then reads as military unwind of a choke the West helped build — ugly, but not reducible to oil ticker or one foreign leader.
TDS-shaped versions skip the archive and pick Trump + Bibi as cartoon villains because that forbids complicated blowback history.
Oil: Hormuz matters; so does enriched uranium custody. Cable prefers one villain and one profit motive because two scoreboards and seventy-year files don’t fit a 90-second segment.

Limits
We do not claim Israel had no influence on timing or targeting. We do reject single-motive stories as complete.
