The SAFIRE plasma reactor: replicating the atmosphere of the sun in a laboratory on Earth. This is the original SAFIRE PROJECT website. It serves as an historical overview of the project from inception to the creation of Aureon Energy, Ltd. For current commercial status: aureonenergy.com / aureon.ca

Home
- index.html Overview of the SAFIRE project origins. The project was designed to test the Electric Sun model through empirical lab experiments. Successfully completed its mandate; now commercial as Aureon Energy Ltd. Contains: origin story, overview of Electric Sun hypothesis, links to documentary film project.
About Us
about-us/genesis.html The founding story. In 2012, Montgomery Childs proposed a way to test the Electric Sun Model at a conference exploring the electrical nature of deep space. Scott Mainwaring recognized the pragmatic empirical method in his proposal. Core thesis: “Charged plasma affecting matter of a different electrical potential.” The SAFIRE PROJECT was initiated with three major phases.
about-us/team.html Foundation partners and team members:
- Montgomery Childs — Founder of Aureon Energy, principal scientist and chief engineer
- Jano Onderco — Lab assistant, data acquisition
- Wal Thornhill — World’s leading authority on the Electric Sun model; proposes and clarifies experiments
- Donald Scott — EU Group; electrical engineering expertise
- Bruce Mainwaring — Applied electrical sciences; longtime Electric Universe advocate
- Leighton MacMillan — Engineering and mechanical assembly
- Jason Lickver — Engineer; design blueprints and construction
- Michael Clarage, Ph.D — Compares experimental data with NASA, SOHO, SDO, Voyager, Rosetta datasets
- Paul Anderson, Ph.D — (additional team member)
about-us/historical.html Historical precursors to the Electric Sun model:
- James Clerk Maxwell — 20 equations codifying electromagnetic research (mid-1800s)
- Kristian Birkeland — Proposed space is a sea of charged particles; explained solar activity and auroras
- Irving Langmuir — Coined “plasma” for ionized gas
- Hannes Alfvén — Plasma and electricity in the cosmos; magnetic fields require electric currents
- Benjamin Franklin (1705–1790) — Proved lightning is electrical
- Michael Faraday (1791–1867)
- Sir William Crookes (1832–1919)
- Note: 99.9% of the visible Universe appears to be made of plasma.

Science
science/phase-one.html Phase One: Proof of Concept. A fully functional bench-top model built before the full-scale lab. First iron composite anodes tested (2cm and 4cm). Key discovery: when plasma was first fired up, electromagnetic and radio frequencies showed a rhythm — like a heartbeat, stable and continuous. Observations of harmonic resonance possibly mediating a nuclear/fusion reaction. Quote: “It’s almost as if the universe is singing.” Full description available as downloadable PDF.
science/phase-two.html Phase Two: Full-Scale SAFIRE Laboratory. The full-size SAFIRE Plasma Engine constructed and fired. All Phase One learnings applied. Entire lab designed in virtual space first (AutoDesk software) — 44,000 named parts. As a result, physical assembly took weeks instead of months and the system fired up and ran as predicted within hours. Montgomery Childs’ OIPTS (Open Issues and Project Tracking System) methodology used. Phase Two went far beyond original plans — numerous unexpected discoveries including energy densities comparable to the Sun’s photosphere, with no negative side effects (no radioactivity).
science/phase-three.html Phase Three: Advanced Experiments. Experimental methods:
- DOX (Design of Experiments Methodology)
- Optical Spectroscopy
- Mass Spectroscopy
- Langmuir Probe Measurements
- Plasma voltage and current control
- Infrared and UV light measurements
- RF measurement and data acquisition Full description available as downloadable PDF.
science/commercialization.html Commercialization. SAFIRE PROJECT successfully completed its mandate to test the Electric Sun. Decision made to employ all discoveries in a commercial plasma reactor that produces no radioactive waste. Most recent discoveries suggest SAFIRE reactor will be able to neutralize radioactive waste while simultaneously producing energy. New enterprise: Aureon Energy Ltd → aureon.ca
Movies
movies/story.html The Film. Feature documentary following SAFIRE from inception through design, proof-of-concept, construction, and first experiments. Tests the Electric Sun model vs. the mainstream Thermonuclear model (gravity-driven, never proven). Uses hard-core empirical science with a unique falsification methodology. Built on 250 years of Electric Sun hypothesis development, refined significantly by Wal Thornhill. Results described as “startling.” Includes short and long synopsis. Related film: The Wellspring (at aureon.ca).
movies/trailer.html Trailer. “Science is the history of good ideas… evolving to better ones.” A small group of engineers, scientists and scholars attempt to build a sun on Earth — a miniature but perfectly functioning replica. Trailer created early in project; much has since changed. Latest: see aureon.ca and the movie The Wellspring.
movies/scenes.html Scenes. Key scenes/segments:
- The Chamber
- The Electric Sun theory (250 years in development)
- Unique falsification protocol rarely used in lab science
- Proof-of-concept startling results
- Design and construction
- Comparing SAFIRE data with NASA/ESA satellite data Quote from Childs: “SAFIRE will be like a space ship — loaded with instruments — flying right up to the sun… We can correlate the data we get with data from NASA & ESA.”
movies/filmmaker.html Filmmaker. Ben Ged Low — director/producer with credits on hundreds of films (producer, director, writer, cinematographer, composer, editor, sound design). Non-scientist perspective. Drawn to the project by the process of taking ideas off paper and testing them empirically. Reflects on paradigm shifts and the contrast between force-based and resonance/plasma-based cosmological models.
movies/presentations.html Presentations. 90-minute SAFIRE PROJECT presentation given at the 2017 Electric Universe FUTURE SCIENCE Conference in Phoenix, Arizona.

Key Themes
- Electric Sun Model — the hypothesis that the Sun is powered by electrical plasma interactions, not internal thermonuclear fusion
- Plasma double layers — rotating translucent plasma spheres observed in SAFIRE; called “intense plasma flow discharge”
- Harmonic resonance — rhythm observed in plasma frequencies resembling a heartbeat; possible role in nuclear reactions
- Energy without radioactivity — SAFIRE generates energy densities comparable to the Sun’s photosphere with no radioactive byproducts
- Radioactive waste neutralization — emerging evidence that SAFIRE can neutralize radioactive waste while producing energy
- Falsification methodology — designed to disprove the Electric Sun model, proceeding only if evidence forces confirmation
